If You Could Hie to Kolob

If You Could Hie to Kolob

If You Could Hie to Kolob is one of my favorite hymns – though I do have a lot of favorites.  So far it’s also the hymn arrangement I get the most requests for.

  1. This is beautiful. Do you happen to have it in sheet music? Better yet, as a choir arrangement, but I’ll take what I can get.

  2. Thank you so much for your comment!

Unfortunately I have not put it on sheet music or as a choir arrangement, but that’s certainly a good idea. Maybe I’ll look into that.

You’re welcome to download this music, though.

  3. That’s a second vote! I’ll plan on it. Everyone stay posted, and I’ll see if I can create the sheet music as soon as possible.

    Thanks, you guys!

  4. I’m going to also ask for sheet music for this 🙂 It’s beautiful. I’ve been looking for an arrangement of this to sing to at my farewell, and this would be more than perfect. (Fukuoka Japan mission, in case anyone wondered.)

  5. I really love this piece as well, please notify me too when you manage to get some sheet music available.

  6. Sure thing!

The sheet music is now finished, and we’re working on a way to make PDF downloads of the sheet music purchasable right off this blog, but until then, just let me know you are interested in a comment (like you have been doing) and I’ll put you in contact with my dad (Doug Hathaway) to make the purchase.

Thanks you guys! I’m so glad you all like the piece!

  7. I would love to be able to get sheet music for this as well. Thank you! This truly is a beautiful piece.

  8. This is beautiful; well-done.

I’d like to combine the 1st part of this, just to give a hint of a Celestial Vision, with most of your high-energy, smiling, terrific song Jenniology to come up with a song just for my wife, Hoppy.

You oughta write love songs for guys to give their wives. Guess I’ll have to get Sony Soundforge and do it myself. (Let me know if you’d do a custom one for me.)

I sure like your songs. Thanks, Ron

  9. Nicole,
I’ll have my dad get in contact with you. Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!!!

Wow, that’s a cool idea! Actually, I have to admit that I don’t know how to do that. But you are welcome to make the mix you’re talk about. I’d love to hear the result, too, if you get the chance to do it.

  10. this is very beautiful hymn. I order this music for my daughter she is play harp and she is practice now.
    thanks again.

  11. This is beautiful! I’m trying to find a flute arrangement with a piano accompaniment, unfortunately, so I don’t know if this will work.

  12. I should start working on something for flute. I mostly play the recorder and front-blown flutes, but I think the key would be the same (mostly either key of A minor or D minor).

I would love to make more arrangements of this piece, and for various instruments, if you guys are interested.

  13. Have you created a choir arrangement yet for this? If so, do you have a sample page to give an example of the arrangement?

Look forward to your comments! Thanks!

  14. “And I Abraham…saw the stars, that they were very great, and that one of them was nearest unto the throne of God…and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order of that upon which thou standest. And the Lord said unto me, by the Urim and Thummim, that Kolob was after the manner of the Lord.” The Book of Abraham, Translated from Papyrus by Joseph Smith, 1878 edition.
